| • | Every fall there is an Annual General Meeting with an Election for the positions on the Executive Team. |
| • | Westbrook members are welcomed to apply for and vote for these positions. |
| • | All positions are on a volunteer basis which means no monetary value is given for the time, effort and energy that goes into organizing and executing your neighbourhood events to any position. |
| • | Each Executive Member is expected to commit to their position on the Team for a term of one year. |
| • | The total volunteer time given towards the organization and execution of each Westbrook event is approximately 1hour/week. |
| • | Each Executive Member's position has varying responsibilities. |
| • |
In general, the Executive Team is involved in organizing a plan for the Events, making phone calls to suppliers, banking, driving to and from suppliers, sponsors, and deliveries, applying for permits, mailings, design composition and printing of advertisements/posters, the set up and clean up at each event, recruiting volunteers to help us serve the more than 2000 families that live in our community and attend our Events.

The Babysitter's Corner
The Babysitter's Corner
was an idea created for the purpose of promoting a safe setting to exchange
street names with phone numbers only for those needing a sitter and for those
needing a babysitting job within the Westbrook Community. There has been positive
feedback and success for those who did get involved. Unfortunately, with the
onset of the Westbrook Residents' Association's
website, the Westbrook Executive agreed that it would no longer be "safe"
to continue promoting this information.
Your comments and ideas about this concept would be appreciated.
Westbrook Community Bounderies:
The name of our neighbourhood, Westbrook Community,
was created and registered in the Town of Richmond Hill by the developers
HR Development and Acorn Homes.
At the present time, the boundaries that identify the Westbrook
Community are the streets north
of Canyon Hill Ave., the streets south
of Owl Ridge Drive, the streets east
of Bathurst St., and the streets west
of the natural ravine line including Chantilly Cres. and Palomino Cres..
With the continued growth of our community by HR Develpment, Acorn Homes and
Trinity Homes, including the 2003 Public School boundary changes and the future
potential of yet another Public School being built just north of Brookside
Road for 2006, it has been argued that Westbrook
Residents' Association needs to change its existing
boundaries to welcome and include the Silver Pines Community ( south of Canyon
Hill Ave., north of Elgin Mills Road, east of Bathurst St., and west of Yonge
St.) and the Trillium Woods Community (south of Gamble Road, north of Brookside
Road, east of the natural ravine line, and west of Yonge St.).
Since Westbrook Residents' Association
is registered with the Town of Richmond Hill, any changes that we want to
make must be in accordance with our By-Laws.
According to our By-Laws, we must have 25 votes by members of the Westbrook
Residents' Association to make any changes to our boundaries.
Please send us your comments and suggestions to this website, info@WestbrookResidentsAssociation.com
or to the green drop off box at the Elgin West Community Centre.
To Volunteer
"It takes the best in all of us to make a better
world."
That is what volunteering is all about - giving of yourself, and your time
so everyone can enjoy! And that is why volunteering has become a part of the
High School Curriculum for grades 9, 10, 11, & 12. Students must log in
40hours of volunteer work as part of their "Community Service Program".
| • | How many of you would like to have fun helping us out at just one of our events and log in an hour or two for credit? |
| • | How many adults have thought about volounteering at one of our events but thought they were "too tired", "too busy" or maybe "next time"? |
OUR EVENTS ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PEOPLE WHO
COME TO HELP!
We need volunteers for the following events:
membership table at the Victoria Day Fireworks
In The Park
to help put up posters in the neighbourhood to advertise our community Garage
Sale
to help remove the posters in the neighbourhood from the Garage
Sale
for the Carnival In The Park
we need help decorating Larratt Lea Park and cleaning up the decorations,
volunteers for the Bouncing Castle, Snow Cone Machine, 9 hole Mini-Golf, Kiddy
Cars, BBQ set up and clean up, the Membership Table.
PLEASE, any students wanting to volunteer for any of the Westbrook
Residents' Association Events so they can fulfill
their "Community Service" time or even Mom's and Dad's who want
to set fine examples for their kids, just Email us with your ideas of how
you can help.
Many thanks for your consideration.
